Watchmen costume by Syren

The long-awaited film adaptation of a popular graphic novel, The Watchmen was finally released a couple of days ago, and it was #1 at the US box office this weekend, with gross receipts of $55.7 million.

One of the Stockroom subsidiary companies, Syren, was contracted to make the costume for the Silk Spectre character. I've been seeing posters featuring this outfit all over town. I haven't seen the film yet, but I expect to soon.

We've done quite a bit of Hollywood costuming over the years, and both Stockroom and Syren have gotten a lot of press recently. The most noteworthy film work from Syren prior to us acquiring the company in 2006 was the Catwoman outfit for Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns. They also did Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy costume for Batman and Robin, as well as work on Mr & Mrs Smith and Men in Black.

Through the years, Stockroom has provided gear for videos by Madonna and Nine Inch Nails. More recently, we've done Syren costuming and for "Ugly Betty" the Pussycat Dolls, Paris Hilton, Gwen Stefani, and Britney Spears. We also do a lot of accessorizing for "CSI." And then there's the "adult" entertainment industry... we have long been the go-to source anytime they need any kind of kink/fetish/leather/latex gear or fashions.

It's cool to see our products out there, making impressions on tens of millions of eyes and minds. The people seeing these creations don't necessarily focus in on the details of the fashions and products and who may have made them, but they're still seeing it. We do get mentioned in the credits sometimes. It helps create buzz, and gives examples of what we can do, all of which is good for the company. (-:
