Blogacillin

My blog is under the weather.

It is sickly from lack of attention. It needs sunshine... and water, some strolls on the lawn, vitamins, spa treatments, pilates, collagen injections, antidepressants, psychoanalysis personal coaching, past-life regression, colonics, and electroconvulsive therapy,

It's a sad state of affairs. An ounce of prevention would have prevented all of this. Now it needs 100kg of cure. Is anybody still reading this?

Thailand was lovely. One of my friends there is a girl named Ooy. She is 22. I bought her first pair of socks... along with her second pair of socks... to go with her first pair of real shoes, which she needed so we could go for a hike. Thai people mostly wear sandals and flip-flops.

I toured the countryside, and visited my favorite spot in the world, a Buddhist monastery built into a mountainside near Chiang Dao.

My jet lag in Thailand was fairly mild, but after I returned from my 10-day trip, it seemed like it was going to take me more than 10 days to synch back to Los Angeles. I'm finally feeling normalized again, just in time to fly to Morocco a week from today.

I will be in Morocco for 3 weeks. I'm going for another EO University, plus assorted independent traveling about. Marrakech, Casablanca, Fez, and that other city I can't spell, starts with an E.

When I get back, more recording... With Larry John McNally, John Leftwich, and some new guys as well...

Old friend John O'Brien has worked with many interesting projects and people, including rock artists Poe, Khaleel, The Corrs. He has been music supervisor on a couple of Vince Vaughan films, "Made" and the currently-in-production film with Jennifer Aniston, which I think is called "The Breakup."

Olle Romo has been drummer/programmer for the Eurythmics, co-written with Elton John, and recorded and/or produced for Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Sophie B Hawkins and, um, some other people.

The new Stockroom website and affiliate program are up and running now. Very exciting. We're doing a lot of interesting new designs moving through the pipeline too... leather and latex.

There's a new Donald Fagen album out, in case you're one of those few who don't know but do care. I'm listening to it right now.

I say Ray why do girls treat you nice that way
He said its not what I know, what I think or say
Its what I do
Its what I do
Its deep beneath the skin
Its what I major in
Its what I do
I have some tickets to see Donald live at the Wiltern soon. Cool.

That reminds me... although I'm still not quite ready to post any demos of my music here, I will be soon. For now, I'll offer a preview of some lyrics:

GENERATION (For Laurie J)

The first pale flash of a new life

Comes singing down the wire
And finds me thinking of my own time
Trying to grow and feed the fire

I can only hope your little one

Learns faster than me
But we all have our road to run

And we see what we see

Wasn't it yesterday

I was the next generation
Time keeps pulling away
On my plans and expectations
But I'm awake and alive
Still walking in the sun
A battle-scarred man

Whose best work is still to be done

We come from long lines of broken hearts

Broken homes, and broken dreams
We learned that no one's to be trusted

And nothing's what it seems

It's your turn now to try your hand

At breaking that chain

You can walk out from the shadow of your past

Though the memories remain

Maybe you're ready

Maybe you're not

You can dig down deep

You can give what you've got

It's hard to know where your love will go
Just lay it down

Let the river flow

Wasn't it yesterday
We were the next generation

Time will pull away
On our plans and expectations

But we're awake and alive

Still walking in the sun

Though the years have changed us

Our best work is still to be done

From time to time a happy ending

Takes us by surprise

You're with your child feeling clean and clear

As you look into her eyes

Wasn't it yesterday

We were the next generation

Time will pull away

On our plans and expectations

But we're awake and alive

Still walking in the sun

Though the years have changed us

Our best work is still to be done
